Information<\/h3>\n

This is one of the core Ardbeg expressions. \u00a0The other two are Uigeadail and Corryvreckan. \u00a0The only source I can find states that Ardbeg is matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks. \u00a0This is a bit of a rarity, as usually some sherry casks are also used (Remember – a single expression of whisky is a combination of many casks of whisky, unless of course it is a “single cask” expression).<\/p>\n

Nose<\/h3>\n

Sour and bright. \u00a0Lemon. \u00a0Smoky, waxy, salty. \u00a0Warm smoke, sweet pepper. \u00a0Sick (as in vomit, but in an interesting way). \u00a0Slight soda bubble sensation.<\/p>\n

Palate<\/h3>\n

Gentle beginning, followed by a burst of smoke. \u00a0Then the alcohol arrives. \u00a0Followed by more smoke. \u00a0Dry sweetness and some lemon rind.<\/p>\n

Finish<\/h3>\n

Medium in length. \u00a0Slightly leather. \u00a0Pinch of bitterness near the end.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h3>\n

A great whisky. \u00a0I just purchased my second bottle of this, and I expect to continue keeping a bottle on the shelf.<\/p>\n
